Loving other human beings and telling them that we love them is perhaps the scariest thing we can do in this world. Part of the fear is that it won’t be returned – that we have showed part of ourselves to another. I think the other fear is that it will be returned and we will necessarily lose part of ourselves as our lives and selves merge with another. And then once we get past that, we live in fear that it will go away. And the irony, of course, is that the only way we can truly love ourselves and another is to stop being afraid. This song is about all of that.
