This song was an integral part of a show we started performing and touring right before COVID hit. The show, Delivered: The Fragmented Memories of a Former Streetwalker, was conceptualized by Jennifer Clinger and based around readings from her memoir with songs from the Bittersweets interspersed, almost forming a soundtrack.

The story in Rise parallels Clinger’s own life as a survivor who overcame addiction, prostitution, human trafficking, and horrific abuse, leaving the streets in her mid 50’s and finding her way to Magdalene House/Thistle Farms in Nashville, TN, where she works today helping other women with similar stories find hope and a new life.
