With bassists Jimmy Earl (Jimmy Kimmel Band), Renee Camacho and Carlitos Del Puerto
Originally discovered by Stan Getz in Peru, Cecila Noël describes her music as “salsoul”, elements of salsa, blended with elements of soul and jazz. On her aptly titled new CD A Gozár! (To Enjoy), Noël demonstrates why critics have long called her the “Latin Tina Turner.”
A Gozár! is both a very personal album and a manifestation of Noel’s love of music and dance. Noël wanted the CD to be “something that you can put on at your party and dance. Take a little break to dance the ballad cheek-to-cheek and then dance some more.” The tracks range from new material to tributes to some of the great Salsa and Cuban artists of the past and some of Noel’s favorite longtime standards. A Gozár!, says Noel, “is the soundtrack of my life in a way—the songs I’ve enjoyed singing the most and have sung with a vision of having people have a great time and really dancing but also being blown away.
