If I Had Known ­Essential Recordings, 1980-1996, samples timeless tracks that cover most of Brown's career from his earliest recordings such as, Iowa Waltz (1980), to his critically lauded Further In (1996). The 70-plus minutes of music contained within are re-mastered versions of the classic songs taken from the original master tapes. Included with the retrospective CD is a limited edition DVD titled Hacklebarney Tunes, The Music of Greg Brown. First produced in 1993, the 45-minute documentary features interviews, jams and concert footage recorded at the same time as many of the tracks in the CD collection.
