Noëls Celtiques Celtic Christmas Music from Brittany

The vibrant Breton province in northern France is one of the world’s most fervent and festive enclaves of Celtic culture. Noels Celtiques is a collection of traditional and contemporary vocal music sung in Breton (the Celtic language of Brittany) by the celebrated Ensemble Choral du Bout du Monde. Created in 1977, The "World’s End Choir" draws performers from choral societies throughout Brittany, bringing together singers from over forty communities. This magnificent choir of over one hundred voices is accompanied by Renaissance and Medieval instruments including bagpipe, flute, keyboards, guitar, and the Grand Organ from the Landavennec Abbey. Both joyous and mysterious, this recording highlights the rich musical inheritance and culture of Brittany. With lyrics printed in Breton, English, and French, Noels Celtiques is a wonderful recording for fans of Celtic, classical, and Early music. There are original compositions here from choir director Christian Desbordes that weave in nicely with the traditional, Christian works. A good choice for the beginning listener of sacred Christmas music.
